Kim Tope is the Project Coordinator for the Self-Determination for Texas and has worked with Imagine Enterprises since 2001.
The Self-Determination for Texas project, is a grant funded by the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities and a collaboration with a national organization, the Center for Self-Determination. Kim coordinates trainings around the state to assist people with disabilities and those who support them. These trainings combine the basics of self-determination with topics such as community building, building circles of support and employment. During the past three years, more than 1,000 Texans have been trained in the principles of self-determination.
Kim has more than 17 years experience assisting people with disabilities to become a part of their communities. She has worked in many capacities, her favorites of which are employment specialist, supported living specialist and currently as Project Coordinator of the Self-Determination for Texas project. Her experience includes assisting individuals in moving from institutions to their communities. She lived temporarily with some of these individuals while they adjusted to their new lives in the Austin area.
As an employment specialist, Kim has provided services to individuals with many different types of disabilities and needs, in both Houston and Austin.
Kim is a 1987 graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising. What she likes best about working for Imagine is the agency's dedication to individuals and outcomes. |
