Transitional Work Incentive Planning and Assistance Project

Effective September 30, 2006, the Benefits Planning, Assistance and Outreach (BPAO) program was replaced by the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) Program. The Social Security Administration (SSA) made 99 new awards under the WIPA program to organizations that will provide services to eligible SSA beneficiaries, but direct services are not yet available in some parts of the country. To temporarily fill the gap during the transitional period, Imagine Enterprises, an experienced WIPA provider, will provide work incentives planning and assistance services for beneficiaries who reside in the areas where there is currently no WIPA project and for beneficiaries who reside in areas where the WIPA does not have staff trained. This service, known as the “Transitional WIPA”, is available via a toll-free telephone line. The toll-free number is 866-426-1132. It is now in operation; the hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
