Angela De Leon recently joined the Imagine team in September 2007 and is the Project Coordinator for the West Texas Youth Leadership project which is funded through a grant with the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities and through the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services where she and other Imagine staff teach students with disabilities to advocate for themselves and how to become future leaders in their communities. Angela also provides supported employment vendor services for DARS in Taylor County which is in the Abilene region. She has earned certification from the University of North Texas to provide supported employment services.
Angela has 12 years of experience assisting people with disabilities to become a part of their community in several specific areas. In supported employment she has worked with individuals to find positive job matches in the community as well as providing long and short-term support and follow-up services.
At the Betty Hardwick Center’s Tcoommi Unit she provided jail diversion services by partnering with the local Adult Probation Office to provide services that included skills training, accessing community resources, supported employment, psychiatric clinic and crisis intervention. She also worked with the HCS Waiver program and provided case management services where she was responsible for the clients budget needs and coordinating the annual staffing that determined the client’s needs for the year and provide detailed quarterly reports to reflect how the services were matching the client’s needs.
Angela is passionate about assisting people with all types of disabilities with identifying and achieving their personal and professional goals. |
