Career Life Planning We all have hopes, dreams, goals and desires for the future, but we often lose focus of our ideals when confronted with the every day tasks of living. Do you know what you want out of life? Do you have a career goal that you thought was impossible? Are you happy with your life? Sometimes a good planning tool, some professional guidance and a little follow-through can be all you need to change your destiny. Because people with disabilities often have an ongoing need for support systems, they tend to get caught up in the "system" more than the average guy or gal on the street, and tend to get pushed in the directions that are most convenient for other people: family members, care givers and service providers. It can be tough to buck the trend and exert personal preferences when others are used to making decisions for you, but with a little effort and a lot of determination, the world can be your oyster. The staff of Imagine Enterprises have spent a great deal of time creating and fine-tuning a planning document we call the Imagine Career Life Plan. It has been used as a successful planning tool for several hundred people. Imagine invites you to use this workbook as a guide to learning about your own ideas for future employment, raising your children and building a home life. This is a work in Progress, and there are no deadlines but your own. Please feel free to skip about, ask questions, or leave blanks where you do not know the information. This information builds the cornerstone for our commitment to assist you to find, get and keep employment of your choice. Although Imagine no longer has funding to help people work through the plan, staff consultation is available at a reasonable fee (see Hire Imagine).
