The Waiver Information Network (WIN) is a statewide volunteer network that provides information to Texans with Disabilities and the elderly, their support networks and professionals on publicly funded Medicaid waiver services to accomplish self-determined lives.
The Waiver Information Network is a relatively informal network of people who come into contact with people with disabilities, their families and/or others that support them as a routine part of their day, whether through work, play, organized groups, or while just going through their normal day to day tasks. A WIN volunteer isn’t expected to be an “expert” or “authority” – simply someone who knows general information about waivers and can recognize a person’s need to be connected with someone who can help. WIN volunteers aren’t expected to devote a lot of extra time….volunteers will be coming across people who need to get hooked up with resources in the course of their daily routines.
